{"id":104,"date":"2017-05-15T14:08:00","date_gmt":"2017-05-15T13:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tdi_194_e45"},"modified":"2023-10-26T09:05:41","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T08:05:41","slug":"ups-celebrates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/todayshipping.info\/index.php\/2017\/05\/15\/ups-celebrates\/","title":{"rendered":"UPS celebrates Global Volunteer Month"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ups-celebrates-global-volunteer-month\"><strong>UPS celebrates Global Volunteer Month<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this month, international shipping provider UPS announced its continued support of Global Volunteer Month, calling on its employees to reach out to UPS community relations managers and its business resource groups to give their time to local volunteer and charity efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative started as a weeklong celebration of volunteerism by the Nixon administration in 1974 and was extended into Global Volunteer Month in 1991 when President George H.W. Bush launched his 1000 Points of Light campaign.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Points of Light, 87% of people would like to make time for volunteer opportunities, 44% of people are unsure of how or where to volunteer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To make volunteerism easy for its U.S. employees, UPS recently released its Community Connections platform for employees to search for available volunteer opportunities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPS expects to expand its platform globally later this year to help reach its commitment of 30 million volunteer hours by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPS also highlighted four employees, or \u201cSuper UPSers\u201d&nbsp; who have impacted their local communities with their volunteer efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of those individuals is Toy Ann McCray, who has carried on a family legacy of giving back to her local community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou cannot come in contact with Toy Ann McCray and not leave with something.
